Since we are all members of a global community, it is important to understand how the English language is viewed as an International language. Every individual communicates through language. Believe it or not: non-native speakers of English greatly outnumber native speakers! There are many Englishes spoken around the world. This blog will allow us to explore varieties of Englishes as well as our own.

Social Network
Through the social network site of Ning, I have become a member of the EFL Classroom 2.0. This site has a plethora of information from colleagues in my field of teaching English. Even though I am an ESL teacher instead of an EFL teacher, this site still offers ideas, lessons, videos, and much more that I could incorporate into my classroom. Essentially, both fields still teach to the same population. Therefore, connecting with this social network will allow me to expand my knowledge of teaching and methodologies outside of the United States. I love learning new ideas and hopefully will someday join my EFL colleauges by teaching in another country. So, the opportunity to chat with EFL professionals in real time will help educate me in another realm of teaching English to speakers of other languages.
